NTT Electronics Exhibits at IBC2006, the world’s premier Broadcasting Media Convention
Revealing the latest MPEG-2 and AVC/H.264 HDTV products and technologies
Tokyo, Japan. - August 25, 2006 - NTT Electronics Corporation, an industry leader in image compression technology, will be taking part in Europe’s largest broadcasting media convention, IBC2006 (International Broadcasting Convention, Amsterdam, the Netherlands), from September 8 to 12.
In a joint exhibit with the NTT R&D laboratories under the theme of Innovative HDTV Solutions (booth No. 1.441), our company will display products and solutions for video content creation, transmission and delivery services for broadcasting and communications activities. In addition, we will also have the latest AVC/H.264 technology on display, which is currently being developed at NTT Cyber Space Laboratories.
NTT Electronics HDTV codecs, with their high image quality, are used in program production sites throughout the world. The H3000 series of MPEG-2 codecs is especially popular, being used by Japan’s NHK, South Korea’s MBC, and many other stations in Japan and overseas, as well as adopted for live broadcasting of global sporting events. The H5100 series will also be on display; it is compliant with the RoHS Directive - that is banning the use of hazardous substances. The exhibit will also feature a video demonstration of the new HVE7100 encoder supporting the AVC/H.264 High profile. In addition, a demonstration will be carried out which will highlight the IP transport of HDTV video using the NA5000 IP interface system, which features Gigabit Ethernet output, FEC (forward error correction), and encryption capability built in.
Tsuneo Okubo of NTT Electronics (General Manager, the Multimedia System Group) comments as follows. "Our HDTV systems enjoy wide support by customers who demand high image quality. These products have earned an excellent reputation both in Japan and worldwide. At this exhibition we’ll be announcing products aimed at high image quality, including AVC/H.264 as well as MPEG-2. Please come and see our technology."
